Samantha Jayne Petri - Artist
Working full time as an Art teacher, I enjoy inspiring young creative people. I believe it is important as a teacher to be an Art practitioner myself in order to enthuse people for my subject. My love for Art started at GCSE and A-level from which I went onto study it further on a Art foundation National Diploma course. I continued on my education by completing a 3 year BA degree in Multi-Media Textiles at Loughborough University where I developed my own unique style and technique of textile work. Following my degree I spent a year in Industry, designing textile samples in Italy and London and then completed my Post Graduate certificate in Education in Art and Design at Brighton University.
More recently I have developed my own unique animal painting style, combining large quantities of loose painting mediums and metallic reflections to create layers of tone, texture and colour to describe the shine and surface of the animal’s coat. I use finer more controlled paints and pens to refine my work once I have achieved my desired effect.
As well as the animal portraits I thoroughly enjoy creating personalised art gifts and decorations for special occasions. I have adapted my loose pen and ink style into creating wedding art for guests to sign. I get a lot of enjoyment from creating one off unique hand made presents using a range of techniques, such as screen printing, water colour painting, sewing and laser engraving.
I hope you enjoy looking at my portfolio of work. If you have any questions or enquiries about commissioned work then please contact me via email. firstname.lastname@example.org
