Animal Portraits by Samantha Jayne
I have always been a lover of animals which has driven my passion to paint pet portraits. My first animal portrait was a large picture on calico fabric of our family's rescue horse Deno, which I made as a birthday present for my Dad. I got a lot of interest from friends and family following this and got asked to paint for them too; this then led to friends of friends asking about my work and so on. The money raised from painting animal portraits is used to fund two very lovable rescue horses Deno and Posh.
I have developed my own unique animal painting style, combining large quantities of loose painting mediums and metallic reflections to create layers of tone, texture and colour to reflect the shine and surface of the animal’s coat. I use finer paints and pens to refine my work to produce my finished piece.
